The Art of Dr. Lakra
Jerónimo López Ramírez, better known as Dr. Lakra, is a self-taught illustrator and tattoo artist. Born in Mexico City in 1972, Ramírez now resides in Oaxaca and is considered one of Mexico’s most important contemporary artists.
Dr. Lakra intersects tattoo art, Indigenous designs, vintage postcards, movie posters, and photographs with iconic figures of Mexican culture. His art has been exhibited in galleries from Tokyo to New York City.
